When I took a TOEFL test about six years ago, I scored 90, which is a good score, even though it wasnt ideal for me. This year, I chose the IELTS because of my schedule and the number of universities where I could send my score without additional fees. As I have been studying English since then, and half of my masters degree research bibliography is in English, I was confident in my performance. However, I am aware that my speaking is my weak spot. Im a self-taught English learner who doesnt have enough opportunities to practice English conversation. Unfortunately, I did not prepare myself to answer questions about bags and what clothes people are wearing on the street these days. The surprise of being asked about this, being a woman in *******, brought the feared blank to my brain to the point that I could not remember how to address a t-shirt. As an autistic person, minutes later I had terms such as apparel, formal, and informal dress style popping into my head. But, okay, I can take responsibility for my score in the speaking part. Is my weakness, and the autistic traits that prevented me from speaking and adapting to an unexpected subject. Nevertheless, when I read the overall result, it does not look like me. And it looks like the speaking test was the measure for all my scores. 5.5 in writing is something I think doesnt do me justice. The importance of history in a personal and collective sense was approached with academic knowledge, critical thinking, examples, and an empathetic and social awareness of the language in which we communicate and tell history. The history is told from a winners perspective, and as a winner, the British Council stopped my plans to study abroad in *******. And I heard I was not able to access the questions. In Listening, for example, I remember I lost the first question (number one) and probably all the questions related to the roughly drafted map. This leads us to the most overwhelming part of non-inclusive in the title because this map is ridiculous in terms of an image that could provide easier and quicker access to information than words. Of course, every autistic person is different, but in most cases, except for those with eidetic memory, listening, writing, and reading a terrible map like this is not only a challenge but a tremendous effort. Its too much information to process at once, creating information that confuses and misleads you. Its an unfair test for autistic people. I also need to emphasize the misogyny in my questions during the speaking test. I also defend that it is fair for the test-taker to be granted access to his answers and, of course, questions. Otherwise, theres no way to learn from our mistakes, and there is a lack of transparency in the process. You own us and are not giving access to vital information. We lack a basic understanding of how we performed in one costly and exhaustive test. We only have your word.
